“But they are your people, your inheritance that you brought out by your great power and your outstretched arm” (Deuteronomy 9:29, NIV).
God is omnipotent. He is all powerful and can do anything and all things. He however does only what will further His purposes.
God created man for His own pleasure – Revelation 4:11 KJV. The devil sought to thwart His plan by causing Adam and Eve to sin. God much later chose Abraham and his descendants, in order to keep His purpose alive. He allowed Israel to go into captivity in Egypt in order to keep them alive during a worldwide famine. When Pharaoh refused to let them go at the time God had predetermined, He nonetheless brought them out with a show of His power and outstretched arm in many awesome miracles and wonders. Colossians 1:12-14 is an expression of this deliverance from bondage and darkness to freedom and light for born again Christians now.
In Acts 1:8, the Lord promised to give His awesome power to those who believe in Him, in order to carry on fulfilling His purposes on earth. Like the Lord Jesus in Acts 10:38, He has anointed us with His Holy Spirit and with power, to go about doing good, healing those who are oppressed of the devil. This new month, let us set about doing exactly this, in Jesus name.
