“Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. Make room for us in your hearts…” (2 Corinthians 7:1-2 NIV).
My determined purpose at the beginning of the year was to know God more. As the year of all things possible, I sought to spend more time being quiet in His presence and be more sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Looking back at the last six months, I can’t say I have achieved much as the busyness has been creeping back in.
In the physical however, I have achieved in the last two months what had been difficult in the last decade. I have managed to decongest my garage packed full of stuff we did not need, my bedroom where all spare space had been taken up by books and files, and other rooms filled with unused clothes and other junks. I now see a link between this physical feat and my spiritual quest. As I continue purposefully to decongest my spiritual life too, I will create more room for the Holy Spirit, containing Him more in me, and I will see myself achieving more of what seem difficult and impossible in the physical realm.
At this start of the second half of the year, you may need to look both into your physical and spiritual affairs too, get rid of all unwanted junk, and make more room for yourself and for God in your life. It will be worth your while and the dividends will be great.
Happy new month
